BECAUSE YOU ASKED: WHAT SPEEDS DO YOU REALLY NEED?
Megabits per second (Mbps) is the standard measure of internet bandwidth, which consists of both download and upload speeds. Your download capacity is used for activities like streaming video, while your upload capacity is used for work-from-home applications like videoconferencing and file sharing. Symmetric upload and download speeds are crucial for an optimal internet experience. In terms of speeds, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has defined 25 mbps download and 3 mbps upload as the minimum requirement for internet access to be considered broadband. In other words, unless you’re streaming Tiger King simultaneously on 100 different devices, you won’t need anywhere close to 1 gigabit.
